The knee airbag is the key component to protect the lower extremities (knee, upper and lower leg) in case of a frontal collision. Additionally the overall occupant kinematics can be optimized with a dedicated restraint in the lower body region. The knee airbag is installed in the lower section of the dashboard, e.g. below the steering column on the driver side and below the glove box on the passenger side.
