Automated driving vehicles with new interior concepts provide more space and flexibility for the occupants. Relaxed sitting positions - e.g. a reclined back rest - require the development of new restraint systems for a safe ride. The BARS (belt-attached restraint supplement) which is always close to the occupant helps to increase safety.

Depending on the vehicle interior design BARS can be used as an add-on restraint which interacts with standard restraint components such as the driver airbag.

Or, in case of completely new interior concepts, it can be used as a atand-alone restraint that substitutes common standard components. With the new airbag generation Joyson Safety Systems actively shapes safety for future mobility.
